Korean Veterans of the Vietnam War

 

선 언 문

대한민국 월남전 참전용사

Whereas, The United States holds as its highest ideals freedom, democracy, and selfdetermination
and strives to spread these ideals to every man, woman, and chrild on earth;
and

 

미합중국은 남,녀, 어린아이에 이르기까지 지상의 모든 인류에게 자유,

민주주의 그리고 자주독립의 이념이 실천되는 것을 지고한 사명으로 여긴다.

Whereas, The United States entered the Vietnam War to prevent a Commudist takeover
of our friends in South Vietnam and more than three million American troo{s fought
bravely in the cause of freedom and democracy; and

 

미합중국은 월맹 공산정권이 우리의 우방인 남부 월남을 침략하여 장악하는 것을 저지하기 위하여

월남전에 참전하게 되었다. 3백만 명에 이르는 미합중국의 국군이 자유와 민주주의를 옹호하기 위하여

용감히 참전하였다.

Whereos, The American soldier strives co be a symbol of freedom, Cemocrapy, and
kindness around the world; and

 

미합중국의 군인들은 인류의 자유, 민주주의 그리고 박애를 위해 최선을 다하여 헌신하였다.

Whereas,Korean soldiers were sent to the Vietnam War to support americf ftoops and
the cause of freedom at the request of the United States; and

 

대한민국 국군들은 미합중국 정부의 요청에 따라, 미합중국 국군의 군사 활동과 인류의

자유 수호를 위해 월남전에 참전하였다.

Whereas,Korean troops were known throughout the conflict for their effect{veness and
fought alongside American troops in all areas of the theater; and

 

대한민국 국군들은, 월남전에서 이루어지는 모든 군사활동에 적극 동참하여 가장 효과적이고

우수한 군사력을 발휘하였다.

Whereas, The citizens of the United States of America owe their appreciatiqn to all
veterans who have fought for our liberty, many paying the ultimate sacrifice; and

 

미합중국의 국민들은 월남전에 참여하여, 인류의 자유를 옹호하기 위하여 지고한 희생정신을 발휘하였던

대한민국 참전 국군용사 들에게 무한한 감사를 드린다.

Whereas, Korean veterans of the Vietnam War are especially dedicated to tl]e ideals of
freedom and democracy;

 

월남전 참전 국군용사들은 인류의 자유와 민주주의의 이념을 실천하기 위하여 지고한 희생을 하였다

Now, therefore,I, United States Senator Pat Toomey proudly recognize the fiorean
veterans of the Vietnam War for their service to the American people and thf citizens of
Pennsylvania, and all American veterans who fought in the Vietnam War.

 

그리하여, 미합중국 연방상원의원인 펫 투미(Pat Toomey) 본인은,

미합중국 국민, 펜실베니아 주민, 그리고 월남전에 참전한 모든 미합중국 참전용사들을 돕기 위해,

월남전에 참전하였던 대한민국 참전국군 용사들의

헌신에 최선의 감사의 표시를 드린다.
